February 11th Meeting

With the competitions now out of the way we came back to a traditional meeting with a some excellent speeches from new and experienced speakers. We enjoyed a gestures speech on sport which caused a little stir in the evalutions! A strong Crab Dance performance from one of our more vibrant speakers and a masterpiece! So strong speaking all round. We also had a delight of a topics session where we were all given a ticket to an event which stretched us all and allowed many to develop the topic into a great speech!

Our chair for the evening did a fanastic job and welcomed four new people to the meeting. I believe this was her only second time chairing a meeting a she gave us all a wonderful, fun, relaxed and enjoyable evening so big credit to her.

South Area Competitions

The South Area competitions were held today and hosted by our club. 7 magnificent speeches, 5 evaluations, and 4 topics. The best that the area can offer. It was a super showcase for speakers at all levels, to enjoy, to learn and just to participate. The chief judge was from outside the area, ably assisted by various people as required. Everything was transparent and fair. The AGM aspect of the afternoon was heated but we learn from that as well. However, staying with the competitions, it was a success - nothing stood in the way and we wish all the competitors from the South Area every success when they go to the District Finals on the 9th March.
